Creative Aspects
All art consists of interpretive and conceptual
creativity. Interpretive artists focus
on art forms of the past, and conceptual artists, on the future. If Western music is to transcend 12-tone
equal temperament — or the standard tunings of keyboard instruments — the subject
of musical mathematics will again become
essential. However, all mathematical
thoughts and equations are governed by thresholds, beyond which they no longer hold
true. Consequently, we must also rely
on our experiences and sense perceptions to
transform two-dimensional concepts on paper into three-dimensional realities in
materials.
